An Uxbridge-area Personal Support Worker is facing charges after a police investigation found she has been stealing narcotic patches from elderly patients at her place of work.
A concerned employee of a long-term care facility in Uxbridge contacted police on July 12, 2010 because narcotic pain-relief patches were going missing from elderly patients.
Investigation found a 33-year-old female Personal Support Worker had unlawfully removed a “Fentanyl” narcotic patch from an elderly patient during the course of her duties. A search of the female found she was in possession of two additional patches which she had also stolen. Tanya-Anne SARASIN, age 33, of Brock, Ontario is charged with: Theft Under $5,000 x2 and Possession of a Schedule I Substance x2. SARASIN was released on an Undertaking with conditions.
Police are trying to determine if there are other similar incidents in Durham Region. Anyone with further information on this incident or related incidents is asked to call D/Cst.
