Police Seek Fail to Remain Driver After Cyclist Struck

Police are seeking information leading to the identity of a male driver who struck a cyclist and immediately fled the accident scene on Sunday afternoon in Oshawa.

On Sunday July 25, 2010 at approximately 1:40 p.m. a male cyclist was in company with three other cyclists and riding westbound along Bloor Street East in Oshawa when a passing motorist struck the lead cyclist and fled the scene, not stopping to render first aid or to await police arrival. The remaining cyclists were not physically injured during the collision. The suspect vehicle failed to stop and continued driving westbound along Bloor Street East towards Wilson Road South. Police responded to the surrounding vicinity in the attempt to locate the suspect vehicle but it was not located. No arrests have been made.

The 28-year-old victim from Oshawa was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment to his serious but non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

The investigation continues. The suspect vehicle is described as: a small, white, compact vehicle and is believed to have damages to the passenger side mirror.
