Drugs Located During Traffic Stop in Clarington

A female and two wanted males are in custody after they were found in possession of various drugs during a traffic stop in Clarington.

On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at approximately 8:25 p.m., a member of East Division initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the area of Baseline Road and Liberty Street South.  The registered owner of the vehicle was flagged as being wanted by police.  A check of the driver’s ID confirmed he was the owner and currently had a warrant for his arrest.  Another male, who was wanted by police, as well as a female were also located in the vehicle.  A search of the vehicle and its occupants revealed a quantity of drugs and weapons.

Edward WHALEN, age 38 of No Fixed Address is charged with numerous offences including: Carry Concealed Weapon, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (opioid), Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), Obstruct Peace Officer, Fail to Comply with Probation Order, and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

Daniel WERGINZ, age 31 from Bowmanville is charged with: Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), Unlawfully Possess Schedule I Substance, and Fail to Comply with Release Order.

Brittany RANGER, age 28 from Oshawa is charged with: Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), Unlawfully Possess Schedule I Substance, and Fail to Comply with Release Order.

WHALEN and WERGINZ were held for a bail hearing.  RANGER was released on an Undertaking.
