Uxbridge Youth Curling – ProAction Cops & Kids Program

Uxbridge Youth Curling – ProAction Cops & Kids Program

The Uxbridge Youth Curling – ProAction Cops & Kids Program celebrated the program’s success with a trip down to the Princess Auto Players’ Championship Grand Slam of Curling Event on April 12, 2024 held at the Mattamy Centre in Toronto.

Officers from DRPS’ Equity and Inclusion Unit and North Division accompanied 10 students who participated in the Uxbridge Youth Curling – ProAction Cops & Kids Program to celebrate their outstanding achievements over the past 12 weeks, including their 2nd place finish at the Elementary Athletic Association Northern Bonspiel.

The Program was originally scheduled for six weeks, however, due to its overwhelming success, it was extended for another six weeks! Throughout those 12 weeks, kids learned about curling and took away lessons to enhance their teamwork, communication and problem solving skills. On April 12, 2024 the kids were given an opportunity to see how the professionals work as a team by communicating effectively with each other and by thinking critically to set up their next shots. In addition to this, and in partnership with Rogers Sportsnet, the students were also given an opportunity to see how a live broadcast happens when they visited the broadcasting trucks at the venue.

A special thanks to ProAction Cops & Kids and Rogers Sportsnet for bringing this opportunity to a well deserving group of students.
