The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) was established in 2021 to support DRPS with challenges that impact the diverse communities of Durham Region. YAC is comprised of youth from the Durham Region who sit as a consultative and advisory body to the Office of the Chief of Police.   

The vision of the Youth Advisory Committee is to provide youth with a voice to enhance harmony and communication between the community and the DRPS to address the safety and security needs of the diverse communities of Durham Region. 

As DRPS works towards a more equitable, inclusive, and effective policing service, which includes addressing the safety and security needs of the diverse communities of Durham Region, DRPS seeks advice from YAC to identify community concerns, develop plans to mitigate those concerns and review organizational processes.
