West Division

West Division serves two of the eight municipalities that make up Durham Region. The Town of Ajax with a population of 119,677 is located along the north shoreline of Lake Ontario, less than half an hour east of Toronto. It is bounded on the east by the Town of Whitby and on the north and west by the City of Pickering.

West Division is under the leadership of  Inspector Shaun Carter. There are three main units in West Division: Uniform Patrol, Community Resource Unit (CRU), and the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB), all of which are supported by Administrative Assistants, Crime Analysts and civilian Station Duty Operators. 

In 2019, West Division handled 27,585 calls for service or 24% of all regional calls, 25% of the regional violent crimes and 28% of the regional property crimes. West Division also handled 28% of the motor vehicle collisions in the Region.​
