2023 Youth in Policing – Now Hiring
The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) – Youth in Policing (YIP) 2023 Summer Initiative has opened applications and we are now hiring!
YIP is a paid opportunity for Durham youth aged 15-18. The program has been running since 2006 in partnership with Ontario's Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS).
This paid student position will run for eight weeks, approximately 28-32 hours/week, Monday to Thursday. The program will start on July 4, 2023 and end August 24, 2023. The 2023 Summer Initiative will be held in-person at the Ontario Tech University / Durham College north campus. Through YIP, students can build self-confidence, allowing them to make a difference within themselves and extend to their communities with the aim of making a ripple effect of positive change collectively.

- Navigate their future through setting personal and professional goals;
- Involve themselves as leaders in the community;
- Think and reflect globally;
- Empower others to be ambassadors of change; and
- Discover policing beyond the uniform.
Hiring Process

- Apply by completing the Google Form Application (the link will be provided via email following registration)
As part of the selection process for this position, all applicants will be assessed through an application review, interview, and background check. Registration closes at 4:00 pm on April 11, 2023. Once registered, the deadline to complete the Google Form application is 4:00 pm on April 14, 2023. Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted no later than April 24, 2023. All interviews will take place on April 29-30, 2023.
