9-1-1 Call Leads to Two Arrests for Drug Trafficking

Two males have been arrested for drug trafficking following an altercation that led to a 9-1-1 call.

On Sunday, October 13, 2024, at approximately 10:25 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to the area of Simcoe Street South and John Street, in Oshawa, after a 9-1-1 call was placed. A witness had observed two males following a lone male, and an altercation to take place, prompting them to call police. When officers arrived on scene, they quickly located the involved parties and found the two males to be in possession of drugs and weapons. Police seized cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine from the suspects, along with a collapsible baton, Conducted Energy Weapon and knives.

Omari ANDERSON, age 25, of York, is charged with: Fail to Comply with Release Order; Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace x3; Possess Prohibited Weapon Knowing No Authority; Traffic in Schedule I Substance x3.

Steven MACCARTHY, age 28, of Oshawa, is charged with: Breach of Probation; Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace x4; Possess Prohibited Weapon Knowing No Authority; Traffic in Schedule I Substance x2.

Both were held for bail hearings.
