A Female has Serious Injuries after a Motorcycle Collision in Whitby

A 16-year-old female was seriously injured after a collision in Whitby.

On Saturday, September 7, 2024, at approximately 7:07 p.m., members from Central West Division were called to a collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger van on Dundas Street at the southbound Hwy 412 Exit Ramp.

A Kia Sedona Van being operated by a 46-year-old male from Whitby was exiting highway 412 at Dundas Street West with the intention of turning eastbound on Dundas Street West.  Traffic in the area was heavy and the Kia was attempting to cross two westbound lanes of traffic. As the Kia’s operator began his turn, a Yamaha motorcycle operated by a 16-year-old female from Whitby was westbound in the centre lane. As the Kia crossed the centre westbound lane the motorcycle collided with the driver’s door of the van.

As a result, the 16-year-old motorcycle operator was seriously injured. She was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre where she remains with serious injuries.

Members of the DRPS - Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene and investigated the circumstances of the incident. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. This collision is still under investigation.
