Congratulations to DRPS’ Chief for a Day Winner

This morning Chief Todd Rollauer visited St Paul Catholic School in Whitby to surprise this year’s  Police Chief for a Day essay contest winner Gabriel Perruccio. At an assembly in front of the whole school, Chief Rollauer called Gabriel up to share the good news.

Hundreds of grade five students from across Durham Region submitted essays for the contest and 10 finalists were selected. The finalist visited DRPS Regional Headquarters to read  their essays to a community panel of judges, including Chief Todd Rollauer, members of the Police Services Board and members of the Police Appreciation Dinner and Awards Night (PADAN) Committee. The community panel then deliberated and selected Gabriel as this year’s winner.

Gabriel will serve as Chief for a Day on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 and will be a guest of honour at the Annual PADAN awards night on October 27, 2022 at Deer Creek in Ajax.
