Crime Prevention Week 2023

Crime Prevention Week November 5 to 11, 2023

The public and the media are invited to celebrate Crime Prevention Week in Durham Region starting this weekend.

From November 5 - 11, 2023, Durham Regional Police will support Ontario’s Crime Prevention Week by sharing tips for keeping yourself and your property safe. This year’s theme is Awareness, Engagement, Prevention.

We want residents to think about how they can protect themselves, their families, neighbours, and workplaces from crime. Whether crime occurs in the home or on-line, involves fraud or physical assault, there is always a victim or group of victims.

Our Community Safety Branch has teamed up with members of our Auxiliary Unit and will be focusing on educating residents about crime prevention at a DRPS information booth at The Pickering Town Centre starting November 6, 2023. The booth will have information about a variety of current crime trends including, frauds, scams, identity theft, vehicle theft, as well as tips for home and business security and porch pirate thefts. There will also be information on human trafficking and intimate partner violence. DRPS swag and Faraday bags will be available, as well as daily giveaways.
