Crime Stoppers Month Puts Spotlight on Human Trafficking
January is Crime Stoppers Month and this year the organization is putting a spotlight on human trafficking. The theme for this month is “Stop the Crime of Human Trafficking,” is more than a call to action - Durham Regional Crime Stoppers is now offering a minimum reward of $1,000 for any tip that leads to an arrest involving human trafficking.
In 2021, Durham Regional Crime Stoppers received 1,628 tips that led to 29 arrests, 27 cases cleared, 151 charges laid and the recovery of nearly $150,000 in property/cash/drugs. A full breakdown is below:

Since inception of the Durham Regional Crime Stoppers program in 1986, over 43,000 tips have been processed leading to more than 4,000 arrests, 4,088 cases cleared, almost 12,000 charges laid and the recovery of millions of dollars in property/cash/drugs.
