DRPS Members Pedal For Hope In Support Of Cancer Research

Starting Monday, May 8th, 2023 thru Friday May 12th, 2023, the DRPS, in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society, the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, the Durham District School Board and the PVNCC District School Board will kick-off the “Pedal For Hope” Cycling Tour. 

The Pedal for Hope tour started in 2005 in support of Cops for Cancer. Officers from Peterborough Police formed the cycling team and attended local schools to talk about Cops for Cancer and assist with fundraising.  This year members of DRPS will join Port Hope Police, Peterborough Police, several OPP detachments, Metrolinx and the RCMP to attend local schools and support children in our communities fighting cancer.  During the visit officers will talk about the “Cops for Cancer” initiative and host dynamic, motivating presentations at each school. 

This year, all funds raised will be donated to the Pediatric Family Counselling Services through the Canadian Cancer Society.  Since 2005 over $5,500,000 has been raised for pediatric research. The Pedal for hope team has done over 500 school presentations for more than 200,000 students
