Drugs and Automatic Firearm Located During Traffic Stop in Clarington

A male has been arrested after drugs and an automatic firearm were located in a vehicle during a traffic stop in Clarington.

On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at approximately 11:35 p.m., members of East Division, with the assistance of the K9 Unit and Air1, responded to a suspicious vehicle call in the area of King Avenue West and Church Street.  The driver of a BMW SUV with front end damage, was observed attempting to enter a closed bank.  The vehicle was tracked by Air1 until officers arrived in the area.  A traffic stop was initiated a short distance away, where officers observed a firearm in the vehicle.  The driver was taken into custody without incident. Drugs and a firearm with a fully automatic function were seized from the vehicle.

Jaydan LAM, age 20 from Clarington is charged with: Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence, Possess Firearm Knowing Serial Number Has Been Tampered with, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine).

He was held for a bail hearing.
