Elder Fraud Scam Alert
On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, an elderly couple received a phone call from an unknown suspect claiming to be from their bank telling them their bank accounts were compromised. The suspect advised the elderly couple that a courier would come by and pick up their credit and debit cards to give to the police.
A suspect then attended their home in the area of Hwy 2 and Maple Grove Rd in Clarington and obtained their cards and pin numbers. The cards were then used to withdraw money from their bank account and make purchases.
The suspect is described as: male, 25-35 years old, medium build, long black hair with a full black beard. He was wearing a green baseball cap with a red logo on front, green sweater with a white logo on chest and sleeves, and grey pants.
A four-door black car with tinted windows may be involved.
