Firearm and Drugs Seized During Traffic Stop in Whitby

A male is in custody after a firearm and drugs were located in his vehicle during a traffic stop in Whitby.

On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of Central West Division initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle while conducting proactive patrol in the area of Dundas Street West and Halls Road North.  While speaking with the driver, officers smelt a heavy odour of cannabis coming from the vehicle which resulted in the vehicle being searched.  A loaded handgun with a prohibited extended magazine was located under the driver’s seat, in addition to a large amount of cannabis in the rear of the vehicle.  

The driver was taken into custody without incident.

Lennox Anthony ALLEN, age 41 from Clarington is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm – No Licence, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Possess Prohibited/Restricted Device, Possess Illicit Cannabis, and Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available.

He was held for a bail hearing.
