Firearm Seized During Traffic Stop in Oshawa

A male and female are facing charges after a firearm was located in their vehicle during a traffic stop in Oshawa.

On Saturday, October 5, 2024, at approximately 3:40 a.m., members of Central West Division on proactive patrol initiated a traffic stop in the area of Thornton Road North and King Street West.  While speaking with the vehicle occupants, officers observed cannabis.  The vehicle was searched under the Cannabis Control Act, and officers located a firearm near the front passenger seat.  The driver and passenger were taken into custody without incident.

Anthony Omar SCOTT, age 44 from Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including: Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm No Licence, Possess Firearm While Prohibited, and Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available.

Jessica Marie TRIPP, age 32 from Ajax is charged with numerous offences including: Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, and Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm No Licence.

Both were held for a bail hearing.
