Food and Toy Drive A Massive Success: Thank you Durham Region

That's a wrap!

The 33rd Annual DRPS Food and Toy Drive was a tremendous success. Thousands of families across Durham Region will benefit from the generosity of everyone who donated. The Cram-A-Cruiser Events held across the region had no shortage of donations - organizer Cst. Darryl Rice even had to call for 'back-up' vehicles to help transport the donations to community organizations!

The Food and Toy Drive provides Durham Region families in need with food and toys for the holiday season. Throughout the months of November and December local businesses, organizations and individuals donated food and toys, which were then picked up by volunteers, sorted and distributed to the community and support agencies.

With the uncertainty of the last two years, many have found themselves dealing with job losses or illness and in need of a helping hand. Our residents did not disappoint. A huge and heart-felt thank you to everyone who donated food or toys, our volunteers who donate countless hours to make this possible, and of course the businesses in Durham Region who step up year after year to support their communities. Phoenix AMD in Bowmanville and OPG gave huge boosts to the Food and Toy drive again this year. In accepting their donations, organizer Cst. Darryl Rice was overwhelmed and pointed out that "thank-you" just doesn't demonstrate the depth of our gratitude.

DRPS would like to recognize and thank Cst. Rice who has gone above and beyond for the last five years to ensure the Food and Toy Drive is a success. He volunteers his time and works tirelessly every single day through-out the drive hoping to help as many families as possible.
