Furry Fridays - Meet PSD Rogue
DRPS introduces Furry Fridays! This 8-week campaign leads up to National Dog Day, and highlights each of our PSDs and their handlers. To start off our campaign we would like you to meet PSD Rogue! He is sometimes referred to as Honey Badger, and works alongside D/Cst. King. Rogue was born on March 13, 2015 in Hungary, and has helped our service on many calls throughout his career.
Their most memorable call together was back in July 2022: Two DRPS officers observed a UHAUL truck driving in an erratic manner. Officers attempted a traffic stop for the possible offence of impaired driving. The truck sped away leading officers on a short pursuit before they disengaged the vehicle in the interest of public safety.
The suspect vehicle was called in by passing motorists and the two suspects were observed running from the vehicle into a deep wooded area. A K9 track was initiated and officers swarmed the area in search of the wanted parties.
After a nearly two-hour track D/Cst King and PSD Rogue located two suspects hiding deep in a swamp. The track went through deep bush, steep hills and through waist high swamps resulting in one suspect being apprehended by PSD Rogue and the other being arrested with out incident trying to hide in deep swampy grass.
Stay tuned next Friday to see which pup is on paw-trol next week!
