Gowns for Grads Benefits Nearly 300 Youth
Nearly 300 youth from across Durham Region are ready for graduation after attending the DRPS Gowns for Grads last week at G.L. Roberts in Oshawa.
It was a very busy two days for the 60 volunteers and officers as they assisted students with dress, shoe and accessory selections. Students were all smiles as they left with their carefully selected graduation gear.
For those who couldn’t find the perfect fit, students from Brooklin High School were on-site to provide on the spot alterations. Every attendee received a raffle ticket to enter in a draw for more than 30 prizes, including hairstyling/updo’s, manicures, pedicures and gift baskets. All winner’s of the raffles have been notified.
A special thanks to the DRPS Auxiliary Unit and all the volunteers for assisting with the event. With so many students benefitting from this initiative, organizers are already looking ahead to next year. Stay tuned for news about donations!
