Handgun and Drugs Seized During Traffic Stop in Oshawa

A male is in custody after a handgun and drugs were located in his possession during a traffic stop in Oshawa.

On Monday, July 29, 2024, at approximately 2:10 a.m., Central East division officers on proactive patrol initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the area of Simcoe Street South and Athol Street East.  Officers saw open containers of alcohol in the car and conducted a search of the vehicle and its occupants.  A handgun and drugs were found in possession of one of the occupants, who was taken into custody without incident.

Omar MCGREGOR, age 30 of No Fixed Address is charged with numerous offences including: Carry Concealed Weapon, Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm No Licence, Possess Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered with, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Possess Illicit Cannabis, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking (cocaine) x2, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking (fentanyl), Breach of Prohibition Order x2.  

He was held for a bail hearing.
