Handgun Seized During Traffic Stop in Pickering
Two males have been arrested after a firearm was located in their vehicle during a traffic stop in Pickering.
On Saturday, August 3, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Quick Response Team (QRT) initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the area of Bayly Street and Brock Road. The driver of the car was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle, and was taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle located a firearm in a bag near the driver’s seat. The passenger was subsequently also taken into custody without incident.
Kendall MANDLEY-BYER, age 27 from Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm No Licence, Possession Contrary to Order, and Fail to Comply with Release Order.
Andrew THORNE, age 25 from Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm No Licence, Possession Contrary to Order, Disobeying Order of Court, and Fail to Comply with Release Order x2.
Both were held for a bail hearing.
