Loaded Firearm Seized During Traffic Stop in Whitby

A male and two female youth are in custody after a loaded firearm and drugs were located during a traffic stop in Whitby.

On Saturday, June 29, 2024, at approximately 12:55 a.m., a member of Central West Division conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the area of Dundas Street West and Brock Street South.  While speaking to the driver, the officer detected an overwhelming odour of cannabis coming from the vehicle.  During a search of the vehicle, drugs and a loaded handgun were found.  All parties were taken into custody without incident.

Parker Jason AMISSON, age 21 from Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Possess Prohibited Ammunition, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Occupy Motor vehicle with Prohibited Ammunition, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) x2, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (opioid) x2, and Possess Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling.

A 14-year-old female from Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Possess Prohibited Ammunition, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Occupy Motor vehicle with Prohibited Ammunition, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) x2, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (opioid) x2, Possess Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling, Obstruct Peace Officer, and Fail to Comply with Undertaking x2.

A 14-year-old female from Pickering is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Possess Prohibited Ammunition, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Occupy Motor vehicle with Prohibited Ammunition, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) x2, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (opioid), Possess Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling, Obstruct Peace Officer, and Fail to Comply with Release Order x2.

All parties were held for a bail hearing.
