Male Armed with Handgun Flees Traffic Stop in Whitby

Police have issued an arrest warrant for a male armed with a handgun who fled from a traffic stop in Whitby.

On Friday, August 9, 2024, at approximately 2:20 a.m., members of Central West Division initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle while on proactive patrol in the area of Brock Street and Dundas Street.  While speaking with the driver, officers observed a firearm under the front passenger seat.  Officers demanded the driver exit the car before the vehicle fled the traffic stop.  Police engaged in a brief pursuit but discontinued a short distance later.

Paul Andres FERNANDEZ, age 27 from Ajax is wanted for numerous charges including: Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Flight from Peace Officer, and Obstruct Peace Officer.
