Male Arrested After Armed Robbery at Whitby Grocery Store
A male has been arrested after causing damage and robbing the pharmacy of a Whitby grocery store with a can of bug poison.
On Thursday, June 20, 2024, at approximately 7:15 p.m., members of Central West Division responded to a commercial robbery at the Metro Grocery Store, located at 70 Thickson Road South. A male armed with a can of sprayable bug poison entered the grocery store and began eating food products while causing damage. The suspect broke into the pharmacy area of the store and stole medicine before spraying an employee with the aerosol bug poison and fleeing the area on a bicycle. The suspect was located a short distance away and taken into custody without incident.
The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene.
Kyle S ROBERTS, age 33 of No Fixed Address is charged with: Robbery with Violence, Administer Noxious Thing with Intent to Cause Bodily Harm, Mischief Under $5000, Disguise with Intent, Assault with a Weapon, Possess Weapons Dangerous, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
He was held for a bail hearing.
