Male Arrested After Counterfeit Money Investigation
Members of the Financial Crimes Unit have arrested a male after he used counterfeit money to purchase goods at several stores in Durham Region.
Between January 08, 2025 and March 14, 2025, a male suspect entered several electronic and clothing stores in Durham Region and used counterfeit $100 dollar bills towards the purchase of these goods. Employees from some of the stores were able to recognize the counterfeit bills and the sales were declined.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect was linked to other similar incidents and was identified.
On Thursday March 27, 2025, the suspect was arrested without incident. More than $3000 in counterfeit currency has been seized from the accused.
Police are investigating additional incidents with the same counterfeit bills being circulated throughout the Durham region, and Greater Toronto Area.
Delton PARCHMENT, age 33, of Toronto is charged with: Fraud Under $5000 X3, Utter Counterfeit Money X3, and Possession Property Obtained By Crime Under $5000.
