Male Arrested After Intentionally Colliding with Police Cruiser and Fleeing Police
A male has been arrested after he intentionally struck a police cruiser with a vehicle in Whitby.
On Thursday, June 27, 2024, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a member of Central West Division was on proactive patrol when he observed a vehicle with a stolen licence plate, in the area of Thickson Road South and Nichol Avenue. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle failed to stop, intentionally striking the police cruiser before fleeing the area.
With the assistance of the public, officers determined the suspect vehicle was subsequently abandoned and the driver entered a second vehicle. The second vehicle was located in the area of Thickson Road South and Victoria Street East, where police blocked it from fleeing and took the suspect into custody without incident.
No parties were injured from the collision.
Shaundrey KNIGHT-BRYCE, age 22 from Oshawa is charged with: Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
He was held for a bail hearing.
