Male Arrested for Handgun Possession

A male has been arrested for possessing a handgun after he took a friend’s vehicle without consent.

On Thursday, July 25, 2024, at approximately 2:40 a.m., members of West Division responded to a residence in Ajax after a male took a vehicle without consent.  A female and male were involved in a verbal disagreement resulting in the male taking the female’s vehicle.  The vehicle was tracked to a location in Toronto, where officers located it in a plaza parking lot.  The male who took the vehicle was found sleeping in the driver’s seat.  As the male was searching for his ID, police observed a handgun in his bag.  The male was taken into custody without incident.

Dwayne Godfrey WHITE, age 28 from Markham is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm, and Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm No Licence.
