Male Assaults Officer During Arrest for Public Intoxication in Port Perry
A male is facing charges after he assaulted a police officer while being arrested for public intoxication in Port Perry.
On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at approximately 12:35 a.m., members of North Division were conducting proactive patrol in the area of Water Street and Scugog Street, when they observed four suspicious males in a parking lot outside a closed restaurant. Officers saw three of the males drinking from alcohol containers, and demanded identification. Two of the males were cooperative, however, the third male refused to cooperate with police, becoming irate and making assaultive motions toward officers. After multiple warnings, officers took the male into custody. The male attempted to resist arrest and struck an officer.
The officer sustained minor injuries.
Bradley Douglas COX, age 35 from Port Perry is charged with: Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, Being Intoxicated in Public Place, and Having Open Liquor in Unauthorized Place.
He was released on an Undertaking.
