Male Charged with Assault Police Officer
A male was arrested after assaulting a police officer on Friday in Whitby.
On Friday, November 1, 2024, at approximately 12:50 a.m., members of Central West Division responded to the area of Rossland Road East and Thickson Road North in Whitby for a male that was attempting to get into someone’s vehicle at the gas station. When officers arrived, the male became belligerent and hostile. As officers attempted to take the male into custody, he began fighting, striking an officer and attempting to disarm them of their baton.
Tyrrell DASRAT, age 33, of Ajax, is charged with: Fail to Comply with Release Order; Assault/Intend to Resist or Prevent Arrest; Obstruct Peace Officer; Take Weapon of Peace Officer in Execution of Duty; Assault Peace or Public Officer and Intoxicated in a Public Place.
He was held for a bail hearing.
