Male Facing Child Luring and Pornography Charges in Pickering

A male has been arrested following an investigation into child luring and child pornography in Pickering.

In July of 2024, members of the DRPS Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) began an investigation into a male who was communicating with an underage female.  The suspect attempted to lure what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl to engage in sexual acts.  The communications were sent through the application ChatIW using the screen name “Genini” and through SnapChat with the username ‘richard_ramna23’ and display name Richard Ramnarine.

 

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, members of the ICE Unit attended a residence in the Kingston Road and Brock Road area, to arrest the suspect and execute a search warrant.  The suspect was located inside the residence and taken into custody without incident.

 

Richard RAMNARINE, age 46 from Pickering is charged with: Luring to Facilitate the Offence of Sexual Assault, Luring to Facilitate the Offence of Making Child Pornography, and Making Child Pornography.

 

He was held for a bail hearing.

 

Police are concerned there may be other victims and are requesting anyone with information to come forward. A photo of the suspect is attached.
