Male Facing Weapons Charges After Physical Altercation in Oshawa
A male is facing weapons charges after a physical altercation led to the seizure of firearms in Oshawa.
On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to an armed person call at a residence in the area of Johnson Avenue and Cubert Street. A male was involved in a physical altercation with two females and another male. During the altercation, the suspect made threats with a large knife. The victims fled the residence, while the suspect remained inside. Officers arrived on scene and received information there may be firearms in the residence. After a short time, officers successfully negotiated the suspect’s surrender and took him into custody.
The victims sustained minor injuries.
On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, members of the Central East Division Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB), with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit (TSU) conducted a search warrant at the residence. Several large knives, a rifle, a revolver, a replica shotgun, and ammunition were located and seized.
This investigation is ongoing.
Ben VIGNJEVIC, age 18 from Oshawa is charged with: Assault with a Weapon x2, Assault x2, Assault Peace Officer, Mischief Under $5000, Utter Death Threats x2, Possession of Weapon for Committing Offence, and Possess Firearm Without Holding Licence.
He was held for a bail hearing.
