Male in Custody for Firearm Possession in Pickering

A male is in custody after he was located by police at an intersection, unresponsive in his vehicle with a firearm in his lap.

On Sunday, May 26, 2024, at approximately 5:00 a.m., members of West Division responded to a check on well being call in the area of Whites Road and Highway 401.  The male was reportedly passed out in the driver’s seat of his vehicle through numerous intersection light changes.  Police approached the vehicle and saw a firearm on his lap.  The male exhibited signs of alcohol impairment and was taken into custody without incident, after the firearm was safely removed from his possession.

Jahi SAMUEL, age 42 from Pickering is charged with: Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Exceed Blood Alcohol Concentration, Possess Loaded Firearm, Possess Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Device, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, and Possession Contrary to Order.

He was held for a bail hearing.
