Male in Custody for Possession of Firearm in Oshawa

A male has been arrested after police located a firearm in his possession in Oshawa.

On Sunday, May 26, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to a check on well being call in the area of Ritson Road South and Valley Drive.  An unknown male was acting erratically and dangerously on a live roadway.  The male agreed to have paramedics transport him to a local area hospital for medical concerns.  For the safety of the paramedics and officers involved, the male and his property were searched.  A loaded firearm with a tampered serial number was located in the male’s bag.  The male was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

Anthony CURTIS, age 31 from Oshawa is charged with: Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence, Possession of Firearm Knowing the Serial Number Has Been Tampered With, Possession Contrary to Order, Fail to Comply with Undertaking, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

He was held for a bail hearing.
