National Dog Day
DRPS celebrates National Dog Day and the excellent work our Police Service Dogs do everyday. These dogs have proven themselves over and over again with their ability to search for and apprehend criminals, conduct neighbourhood, building and area searches, assist in locating lost and missing persons, locating drugs, firearms and human remains.
"I would like to extend a special greeting on National Dog Day. As a former K9 officer, I have a strong appreciation for the invaluable contributions that our Police Service Dogs provide in support of community safety. As a family dog owner, I also appreciate the unwavering companionship and joy they provide," says DRPS Chief Peter Moreira.
"My eyes are your eyes
To watch and protect you
Me ears are your ears
For your safety in the dark
My nose is your nose
To scent out dangers in the night
My life is also yours
So you may home tonight"
Thank you Rogue, Summit, Brooks, Flex, Kaos, Hawk, Klutch, Taz and all past PSD within our K9 unit for your service.
