OPERATION GIVE a success

OPERATION GIVE a success

The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) Youth in Policing (YIP) Initiative has wrapped up another successful community event to support those facing food insecurity. Operation GIVE, which stands for Giving Individuals Valuable Essentials, partnered with Durham Outlook for the Needy for a food drive that made a significant impact.

YIP Students and Leaders united to collect and donate more than 3,400 items to Durham Outlook. This not only underscores the dedication and hard work of everyone involved but also the profound impact the YIP program is making in the community.

In addition to the food drive, members of the YIP team volunteered at Durham Outlook’s Soup Kitchen. Over two evenings, 30 Students and eight leaders served food to nearly 400 people. While serving, meals , clearing tables and cleaning dishes, the volunteers demonstrated collaboration, communication, and community service.

The dedicated team behind the scenes organized educational rotations for all YIP members, emphasizing the importance of giving back and expanding their understanding of food insecurity. A special acknowledgement goes to Team “Yippy Yapper’s” and their Leaders, whose tireless efforts facilitated an engaging and successful initiative.
