Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Multi-Car Collision

A pedestrian is seriously injured following a multi-car collision in Uxbridge.

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at approximately 10:45 a.m., members from North Division were dispatched to a multi-car collision on Regional Road 1, south of Fowlers Road in Uxbridge.

Multiple vehicles were southbound on Regional Road 1, where blowing snow was causing white out conditions. A Kia sedan slowed due to the conditions and was struck from behind. Unable to see the stopped vehicles, this caused a chain reaction of crashes. In total, nine vehicles were involved.

A 20-year-old-male exited his vehicle in an attempt to assist others involved and was struck by a pick-up truck, which pinned him into a snowbank.

Uxbridge Fire, along with York and Durham EMS, arrived on scene to assist the male. He was extracted from the wreckage and snowbank by emergency personnel and bystanders. ORNGE Air Ambulance transported him to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he remains with serious life-altering injuries.

Multiple other involved drivers were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries where they were treated and released.

Members of the DRPS - Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene and investigated the circumstances of the incident. The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. This collision is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Sgt. Ashfield of the Collision Investigation Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5262.

Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca and tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.
