Suspect Arrested for Arson in Oshawa

Police have arrested one male and are searching for another male after an arson in Oshawa.

On Sunday, December 3, 2023, members of East Division responded to a fire call in the area of Jim Brewster Circle and Fleetwood Drive.  Two males were seen fleeing the area in a dark coloured BMW sedan after a home was lit on fire.  Investigators, along with the Ontario Fire Marshal, determined that the fire was the result of arson.  The BMW was later confirmed to be a stolen vehicle.

On Sunday, September 9, 2024, the first suspect was taken into custody.  The second suspect is still outstanding.

Taha ALI, age 20 from Scarborough is charged with: Arson Causing Property Damage x2, Possess Incendiary Material for Arson, Arson – Disregard for Human Life x2, Endanger Lives/Safety of Public, Possess property Obtained by Crime Exceeding $5000, and Conspiracy to Commit and Indictable Offence.
