Suspect Sought in Hate Motivated Assault

Police are searching for a suspect after he assaulted a victim in a hate motivated incident in Oshawa.

On Wednesday, February 5, 2025 members of East Division attended a residence in regards to an assault that had taken place at a high school in Oshawa on Monday, February 3, 2025.

At approximately 11:45 a.m. the victim was at Maxwell Heights Secondary School located at 1100 Coldstream Drive when the suspect approached the victim. The suspect made hate-based comments and attempted to remove the victim’s headdress. A witness assisted the victim and chased the suspect away.  

The victim sustained minor injuries. No details of the victim are being shared in order to protect their identity.

The suspect is described as: male, White, 50-60 years of age, 6’, heavy build, bald, unshaven and wearing a black jacket.

Police are appealing to any witnesses or anyone with video footage to please come forward. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Edwards of the East Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2483.
