Suspects Arrested After Break-and-Enter at Oshawa Hydro Yard
Two males are facing charges after breaking into a Hydro yard in Oshawa and attempted to steal materials.
On Saturday, June 1, 2024, at approximately 2:40 a.m., members of East Division, with the assistance of Air1, responded to a break-and-enter call at the Hydro One Transmission Station located at 2745 Townline Road North. Two males were seen on security surveillance entering the facility with break-in tools. Air1 tracked the suspects until officers arrived on scene. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.
David VAN DER WERF, age 34 from Clarington is charged with: Trespassing at Night, Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence, Possess Break-in Instruments, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
Ryan LAWES, age 42 from Oshawa is charged with: Trespassing at Night, Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence, Possess Break-in Instruments, and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.
Both were released on an Undertaking.
