Two Arrested After Fleeing Stolen Vehicle in Pickering

Two males have been arrested after fleeing police on foot from a stolen vehicle in Pickering.

On Sunday, June 30, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a member of West Division was on proactive patrol when he observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking garage of the Pickering Casino and Resort, located at 888 Durham Live Avenue.  The officer blocked the vehicle after confirming the car had been reported stolen.  Two suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot.  The officer engaged in a foot pursuit and took one of the suspects into custody without incident. A short time later, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, the second suspect was located and taken into custody.  Drugs, a stun gun, and GPS trackers, were located and seized from the vehicle.

One suspect was transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries.  The other suspect did not sustain any injuries.

Shemar THORNE, age 22 from Toronto is charged with: Possess Proceeds Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Possess Weapon Dangerous to the Public, Obstruct Peace officer, and Possess Schedule I Substance.

Terell ROSE, age 22 from Toronto is charged with: Possess Proceeds Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Possess Weapon Dangerous to the Public, Obstruct Peace officer, and Possess Schedule I Substance.

Both were released on an Undertaking.
