Two Charged for Fraud in Clarington

Two males have been charged following an investigation into fraud at a hardware store in Clarington.

In May 2024, two suspects used a fraudulent credit card to purchase numerous materials and tools valued at over $11,000 at the Home Hardware, located at 2423 Rundle Road.

On Thursday, May 23, 2024, members of the Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) arrested the first suspect, and on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, arrested the second suspect.

Giuseppe NATALE, age 55 from Toronto is charged with: Fraud Over $5000, and Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.

David GOTTARDO, age 58 from North York is charged with: Fraud Over $5000, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data, and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

NATALE was released on an Undertaking.  GOTTARDO was held for a bail hearing.

Police believe GOTTARDO may have defrauded more victims.  An image of the accused is attached and can be viewed at www.drps.ca
