Two in Custody for Attempted Vehicle Theft in Whitby

Two males are in custody after they attempted to steal a vehicle from a residence in Whitby.

On Thursday, September 19, 2024, at approximately 2:15 a.m., members of Central West Division responded to a vehicle theft in progress in the area of Capstan Court and Swordfish Drive.  Officers arrived on scene and located two males.  The first suspect attempted to flee in his vehicle but was blocked by police and taken into custody.  The second suspect fled on foot into a green space but was taken into custody a short distance away.

Michael Luciano WILLIAMS, age 20 from Toronto is charged with numerous offences including: Prowl at Night, Attempt Theft Over $5000, Possess Break-in Instruments, and Mischief Over $5000.

Abdikarim Burgal HASSAN, age 20 from Toronto is charged with numerous offences including: Prowl at Night, Attempt Theft Over $5000, Possess Break-in Instruments, and Mischief Over $5000.

Both were held for a bail hearing.
