Two Males Arrested After Firearm and Drugs Seized in Whitby

Two males are facing firearm and drug charges after fleeing from police in Whitby.

On Friday, April 4, 2025, at approximately 2:10 a.m., officers from the Central West Division were conducting proactive patrols in the area of Paisley Court and Consumers Drive when they attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and collided with a police cruiser before the three occupants fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, two of the suspects were apprehended a short distance from the scene and taken into custody.

During a search of the suspects, a loaded firearm with an overcapacity magazine was located along with additional ammunition and magazine. One of the male suspects was also wearing a body armor vest when taken into custody. A quantity of drugs and Canadian currency was seized.

The third suspect remains outstanding.

The suspect is described as: male, Black with dread locks.  He was wearing a white tank top, a grey and black sweater, grey sweat pants, and blue crocs.

Shurron SIMON, age 18, from Toronto is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm; Occupy Motor Vehicle With Firearm; Possess Firearm, Etc. While Prohibited x2; Traffic In Schedule I Substance (Morphine), Obstruct Peace Officer and Resist Arrest.

 He was held for a bail hearing.

Kaivon MCKENZIE, age 24, from Toronto is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm; Dangerous Operation; Occupy Motor Vehicle With Firearm; Posses Firearm, Etc. while Prohibited, Possess Schedule I Substance For Trafficking x2 and Obstruct Peace Officer.

He was held for a bail hearing.
