Two Males Charged After Pointing Firearm in Whitby
Two males have been charged after pointing a firearm at victims in Whitby.
On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at approximately 2:50 a.m., members of Central West Division responded to the area of Applewood Crescent and Applewood Avenue for an armed person call. The victims were inside a residence when one of the suspects pointed a firearm at them. The victims left the residence and were followed by the suspects in a vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and located the vehicle. The occupants were detained and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a replica handgun and multiple 3D printed firearm pieces.
After further investigation by members of Central West Criminal Investigations Branch and the Gun and Gang Enforcement Unit, Criminal Code search warrants were executed at residences in Whitby and Scarborough. Multiple 3D printed firearm handgun frames, replica firearms and magazines were seized, in addition to a 3D printer and computer.
Hamzah PATEL, age 23, of Scarborough is charged with multiple offences, including: Use/Handle/Store Firearm Carelessly x3; Possess Weapon – Dangerous to Public Peace x3 and Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate x3.
A 17-year-old male from Whitby is charged with: Pointing a Firearm; Robbery Using a Restricted/Prohibited Firearm and Possess Weapon – Dangerous to Public Peace.
They were held for a bail hearing.
