Update #1 Fatal Fire in Oshawa
The post-mortem examinations have been completed, revealing no signs of foul play. The injuries sustained are believed to have resulted from the fire.
Early this morning the 12-year-old girl who was removed from the home by firefighters succumbed to her injuries, her father’s condition has improved, and he is expected to survive.
On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at approximately 8:10 a.m., members of Central East Division responded to an active fire on McGrigor Street. Officers arrived on the scene and located a male outside the residence. They were advised by him that an adult female and two children were still inside. Oshawa Fire arrived shortly thereafter and extracted the three parties. A 46-year-old female and a 9-year-old female were transported to a local area hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
The Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) is continuing their investigation into the cause, origin, and circumstances of the fire however at this stage it is not believed to be an arson.
