UPDATE #1 Shots Fired Tuesday Evening in Oshawa
Two males are facing charges after an investigation led to the seizure of handguns and drugs.
On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to the area of Normandy Street and Nevis Avenue, Oshawa, for multiple reports of gunshots. The victim had been sitting outside a residence, when the suspect fired at them, striking the residence. The suspect then ran into a nearby residence.
On Saturday, November 9, 2024, members of the DRPS Gun and Gang Unit (GGU), with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit (TSU), executed a search warrant at an Airbnb, in the Niagara on the Lake area, following a shooting investigation. Two male suspects were located in the residence and taken into custody without incident. Two handguns, a replica firearm, ammunition, and a quantity of drugs were located and seized from the residence.
Sameer Ahmad MAZLUMYAR, age 22 from Oshawa is charged with: Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm – No Licence.
Erick Jasiah GOMES, age 20 from Oshawa is charged with: Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm – No Licence x2, Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm x2, Possess Firearm While Prohibited x2, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), Unlawfully Possess Schedule I Substance (MDMA), Discharge Firearm, Assault with a Weapon, Carry Concealed Weapon, Uttering Threats, and Mischief Under $5000.
Both were held for a bail hearing.
