UPDATE #1 Two Females Injured During Domestic Stabbing

A male in custody is now facing an additional charge of attempted murder after two people were stabbed at a residence in Oshawa.

On Sunday, May 5, 2024, members of East Division responded to a residence in the area of Adelaide Avenue East and Townline Road North following reports of a stabbing.  Information was received that the female victim was stabbed by her husband during a domestic altercation. During the assault, an adult child of the accused tried to intervene and was also stabbed. Although she sustained significant injuries, the victim was able to flee to a nearby residence for help.  She was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre in stable condition.  The adult child was transported to a local-area hospital also in stable condition.

The suspect’s charges have now been upgraded to include attempted murder.

A 54-year-old male of No Fixed Address is charged with: Attempted Murder, Assault with a Weapon x2, Aggravated Assault, Possession of Weapon for Committing an Offence, Uttering Threats and Assault Cause Bodily Harm.

He was held for a Bail Hearing.

The accused’s name has been withheld to protect the identities of the victims.
