Youth Arrested for Assault in Clarington
Two males are facing charges after an adult male was assaulted outside a business in Clarington.
On Friday, June 7, 2024, at approximately 7:55 p.m., members of East Division responded to an assault call in the area of Highway 2 and Townline Road South. Four youth were engaged in a verbal altercation with the owner of a grocery store after the owner observed the youths stealing items. An adult male attempted to intervene in the altercation between the suspects and the store owner. The adult male was struck by the suspects, causing him to fall to the ground, before all suspects fled the area.
With the assistance of Air1 and the K9 Unit, officers searched the area and located all suspects, who were taken into custody without incident.
The victim was transported to a local-area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The store owner did not sustain any physical injuries.
A 15-year-old male from Oshawa is charged with: Assault Cause Bodily Harm.
A 14-year-old male from Oshawa is charged with: Obstruct Peace Officer.
Both males were released on an Undertaking.
